Wall Colmonoy Ltd and contractor Oaktree Construction have both received heafty fines for not properly assessing and taing precautions against asbestos on a refurbishment project in Swansea. In fact, exposed asbestos was covered by plastic bags rather than being dealt with in a safe manner.
The end result was an unannounced inspection by the HSE discovering the asbestos, a lack of management on the project, and that advice from the HSE had been ignored. Wall Colomony was eventually fined £16,000 and Oaktree £8,000 for their actions.
Don't let this happen to you! Anyone carrying out work that "may" expose them to asbestos MUST have asbestos awareness training so why not book onto one of our courses now. Prices start from as little as £25.00 per person plus VAT if you have over 20 people for a course. Contact Jill for more information.
