Reaping the Training Benefits

Employers and directors often comment that training demands on an organisation are constant, time consuming and costly. However, maintaining an up to date Training Matrix for any company, is as we are all aware, vital in our industry. Without this up to date knowledge, the company will not progress.

But do we ever stop to ask ourselves why we train our workers and what exactly we hope to achieve by training?

Here are just a few of the benefits that an organisation with a fully, up to date trained workforce can expect.

An ongoing training plan for employees will help:
  • Develop new skills and knowledge
  • Enhance existing skills and knowledge
  • Identify weaknesses
These three core benefits increase the confidence, capability and morale of employees, who in turn, feel supported and valued and are more likely to show loyalty and commitment to their employer.

In turn the employer/ organisational benefits will include an increase in company performance and organisational morale, increased attraction of business potential, retention of business, increased profit and, of vital importance in any workplace, the reduction of risks and potential accidents.

As Derek Bok - a prestigious American lawyer once said - "if you think education is expensive, try ignorance."
