Driver CPC - Safe urban driving

Originally developed by Transport for London (TfL), the Safe Urban Driving course comprises of a practical and a theory training module addressing the difficulties of sharing the road in the urban environment. This is the first training course in the UK to be accredited through JAUPT. The course modules are:

• Theory module - Classroom based module covering urban driving, changing streetscape, route planning, vulnerable road users, sharing the road, collision avoidance, defensive driving and driver responsibility.
• Practical module - An active module where drivers go out on bikes providing drivers with experience and perspective of vulnerable road users on busy roads. The module covers driver fitness and health, understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable road users, recognising best driving practice around cyclists, practical on road experience at areas of potential conflict including junctions, traffic lights and advanced stop lines.

This course is approved for Transport for London and London Borough procurement and for organisations implementing Work Related Road Safety requirements through contracts.
