This month employers are more resposible for first aid training

On Tuesday, the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 were amended to remove the need for the HSE to approve first aid training. This means there is more emphasis and responsibility on the employer to select the appropriate first aid training and ensure it meets the required standards for the work being done by a company.

The British Red Cross os highlighting this fact, with the heard of the society, Joe Mulligan stating:

"We support the freedom of choice for employers, but some may not consider themselves experts in ensuring that the standard of first aid training is sufficient.

The health and safety landscape is changing but this does not remove risk or accountability for workplace accidents. We would caution against anyone viewing changes to the training market as implying that first aid somehow becomes less important or less serious.

First aid skills can help to save lives and prevent minor accidents and illnesses becoming more serious.
"

C&D runs its own first aid training courses. We are more than happy to discuss what they cover and what is suitable for your company and employees. If you'd like to discuss this further and book a course, please contact us at margaret@demolishdismantle.co.uk
