A Dilemma!

During one of our regular training courses trainer Mike Kehoe issued the operatives and staff from Inglenorth Demolition a Dilemma.

1 - 24 single bottles of oxygen have been dropped off outside the site and they had to get them to the safety cage within the site.

2 - A pack of timber sleepers have also been dropped off and left at the site entrance.

That day on site all the plant and machinery had run out of fuel and the crane driver had a day off.

This was part of a manual handling course that C&D carried out and the operatives were split into four groups to come up with the solutions to this problem.

Using the approved risk assessment T.I.L.E which is TASK, INDIVIDUAL, LOAD AND ENVIRONMENT the group task was to get the materials on site safely and controlled.

However to make matters worse Mike informed the group that the HSE inspector was also on site and wanted to inspect the Manual handling assessment sheets. After some hard work and heated discussion the group discussed the findings.

It was to the credit of Inglenorth that fantastic control measures were put in place and the HSE inspector went home happy with a C&D T-shirt!

C&D training courses always contain group discussion and exercises and “Bill Hill Health and Safety manager” commented ‘the lads were engrossed throughout the whole session and really enjoyed the group exercises’.

Remember C&D can assist in manual handling training assessments and producing all relevant site documentation.

Saturday training to become a regular option in Liverpool

Following many requests for odd places on a Saturday training course C&D have decided that we will now be running a NDTG certificated Demolition & Asbestos Awareness course on one Saturday each month in the Liverpool area with the first of those courses on Saturday 01 November with Mike Kehoe MIDE as trainer.

C&D have run open Saturday courses on a monthly basis in Birmingham and London for the last 18 months with great success and we now feel that this tried and tested model should be rolled out across other areas of the UK.

If you need a single place, or a dozen places please book them via email to mike@demolishdismantle.co.uk

C&D Consultancy increase the number of trainers to meet heavy demand for new courses

Following two months of increased orders for the new suite of training courses offered by C&D we have decided to invest in training our staff to ensure that we have more people able to deliver training courses to the PTTLS standard.

Mike Kehoe and Craig Wilkinson (both better known for their work on site with Safedem Ltd and Connell Brothers) are currently completing their PTTLS training in order that C&D can offer a total of TEN trainers with that qualification to deliver demolition related training across the UK and the World.

Initially we expected that four trainers would meet all of our training needs, but the recent order from Rammer for breaker training Worldwide, the great feedback from the toolbox talks videos, and the growth in orders for bespoke environmental, diversity and stress management courses has shown us that we were wrong.

The ongoing investment in the PTTLS courses will ensure that we continue to offer quality training by approved trainers at any time day or night to keep our customers' workforces fully trained.
