Fully Funded Construction / Plant NVQs in the Black Country

Essential Site Skill is currently advertising the availability of fully-funded access to Construction and Plant NVQs in the Black Country. More specifically, in East Riding of Yorkshire, Greater Lincolnshire, and Tees Valley in conjunction with Calderdale College.

There are also free NVQs to upgrade to a blue CSCS or CPCS card.

As Essential Site Skills explains in an email, "We can now provide Construction SMEs based in the above locations with less than 250 employees free construction NVQs through our Skills Support for the Workforce programme, funded by the European Social Fund. Participants must be legally resident in the UK or able to take employment in a European Union Member State."

NDTG announce details of CCDO card renewals

The current CCDO card renewal system has been reviewed in consultation with CSCS following lengthy and detailed negotiations. I am pleased to advise the following:

1. Existing Industry cards that have been achieved without an NVQ qualification may be renewed up to 2020 with the new CCDO Smart Card. These cards will not now require the NVQ qualification until 2020, however, a Refresher Course will still need to be undertaken.

2. The NDTG, in accordance with CSCS guidance, will renew the following cards:
  • Blue -D2B- Topman
  • Gold -D3B -Supervisor

3. CSCS will continue to review the process and advise any further requirements for card renewal post 2020.

NDTG introduces NVQ Travel Fee

The NDTG has informed us of an NVQ Travel Fee that applies as of this month. It means that anyone attending an NVQ visit will be charged £150 +VAT, which is in addition to the fees payable up front.

The Travel Fee applies per visit, with the total payable upon completion of the training. For reference, Level 2 and Level 4 NVQs will be completed within 2 visits, where as Level 6 NVQs take 3 visits.

C&D to develop and deliver NVQ Level 6 Manager Course for the CITB Specialists Sector

C&D are pleased to finally announce that we have been awarded the contract to develop, write and deliver the NVQ Level 6 Manager Course for the CITB Specialists Sector. The course delivery actually started in the summer but we have been waiting until the news was announced on the CITB site before featuring it on our site.

Wayne Collins wins Assessor of the Year 2013


We would like to congratulate NVQ Assessor Wayne Collins for winning the award of Assessor of the Year 2013 as voted for by the NSAC Manager & IQA Team.

Wayne has worked for the NDTG for over 2 years, with the award being presented at the National Specialist Accredition Centre (NSAC) standardisation and IAG meeting, which occurred on November 28th.

NDTG Demolition Manager Course continues to prove popular

When John and Jill were appointed to write the NDTG Demolition Manager Course 4 years ago, it was written to lead the candidates on to the NVQ Level 6 qualification in Demolition Management and both C&D and NDTG were unsure as to how many people would undertake the course.

Since it's inception the course has run 17 times and over 50 people have now progressed to NVQ Level 6.
