C&D increase the number of PTTLS qualified trainers to meet demand for courses

As orders continue to come in for courses in 2014 it has become apparent that not only are there not enough Saturdays for client training needs, but we need to increase the number of PTTLS qualified trainers to meet demand for our courses. We have, therefore, taken the decision to increase the number of trainers on our books to 10.

This increase has been driven by the high demand for our new 1, 2, 3 suite of Work at Height courses, which is proving popular with clients and trainees in equal measure.

If you need training in 2014 please email margaret@demolishdismantle.co.uk for dates, but please bear in mind that Saturdays will fill up very quickly and we are currently looking at dates in late March and early April for some courses. It is always worth asking for a Saturday, though, as we do get cancellations from time to time.

Have you considered "Super Toolbox Talks" delivered by a third party?

Here at C&D we are sure that you understand the need to give toolbox talks to your workforce on a regular basis, which is why we developed the set of video toolbox talks several months ago to give a variation in the way that toolbox talks are delivered.

When training, PTTLS qualified trainers (and all C&D trainers are) use a variety of forms of training such as photographs, PowerPoint, video and group work to deliver that training and changes in delivery style are beneficial to the trainee.

It has been proven from analysis of training provided that a variation in toolbox delivery is a distinct benefit and as such we have launched our "Super Toolbox Talks" which involve one of our trainers visiting customer sites once a month to deliver an extended version of a toolbox talk on a relevant topic, which could be Work at Height, Asbestos, Plant, Manual Handling or any other subject.

The talks take around 20 minutes to deliver and we can deliver them to as many sites as required on the particular day, dependant on travel times between those sites. Feedback from our clients, and just as importantly their clients, show that the talks are very well received and are seen as another level of training above the in house toolbox talks.

If you feel that the talks could work for you then why not contact john.woodward@demolishdismantle.co.uk to enquire about price and availability. Talks start from £35.00 per hour plus travel costs of £0.50 per mile.

C&D Consultancy increase the number of trainers to meet heavy demand for new courses

Following two months of increased orders for the new suite of training courses offered by C&D we have decided to invest in training our staff to ensure that we have more people able to deliver training courses to the PTTLS standard.

Mike Kehoe and Craig Wilkinson (both better known for their work on site with Safedem Ltd and Connell Brothers) are currently completing their PTTLS training in order that C&D can offer a total of TEN trainers with that qualification to deliver demolition related training across the UK and the World.

Initially we expected that four trainers would meet all of our training needs, but the recent order from Rammer for breaker training Worldwide, the great feedback from the toolbox talks videos, and the growth in orders for bespoke environmental, diversity and stress management courses has shown us that we were wrong.

The ongoing investment in the PTTLS courses will ensure that we continue to offer quality training by approved trainers at any time day or night to keep our customers' workforces fully trained.

C&D Consultancy are delighted to announce a new training partnership with Rammer to deliver breaker training

Following lengthy negotiations over the last 6 months C&D Consultancy are delighted to announce that we have been appointed by Finnish hammer giant Rammer to deliver hydraulic breaker training on a worldwide basis.

Alan Matchett of Rammer spent many hours in discussion with John and Duncan Rudall of DCS Training (our training partner in this venture) developing the format of the course to ensure that C&D could satisfy the Rammer requirements as follows;-
  • The course was to be written to PTTLS guidelines.
  • All trainers must hold PTTLS teaching qualifications.
  • A minimum of 3 trainers must be available to deliver the course anywhere in the World. (C&D will train 4 trainers to cover holidays/illness)
  • It would be an advantage for the course to be delivered in languages other than English (The course will eventually be delivered in English, Spanish and Italian as well as the core languages of John and Duncan -Black Country and Devonian).
  • All trainers must attend an extensive 4 day train the trainer course in Finland in May 2013. (That is now set for 20th to 23rd May at Rammer headquarters in Helsinki).
  • The course must be part of an overall suite of courses available to Rammer customers.
  • C&D are free to deliver an adapted version of the course for any other breaker in use in the demolition industry.
Full details of the new course will be published in the Rammer in house customer magazine due out at any time now but you can get a flavour of the course by clicking through to DemolitionNews where it is featured on pages 40 & 41 of the current issue of Demolition magazine where the article includes the following quotes:-
  • "Operator misuse, abuse and neglect are universally accepted to be the single biggest cause of hydraulic hammer failure within the demolition sector"
  • "Our training course is designed to overcome that problem by demonstrating best operating and maintenance practice to ensure that the operator is safe, that the breaker performs to optimum levels, and that wear, tear and failure are minimised"
